Stillwater Memories

Post card picture of Stillwater Worsted Mills, Harrisville, Rhode Island

This blog has been established by the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library in the Town of Burrillville, Rhode Island. It's purpose is to share and gather memories about local history and events from our local citizens; and then to include these memories as documents in the library's Local History Collection.

Donations to the Local History Collection

Our Local History Room contains countless treasures pertaining to Rhode Island and in particular, to our town. Some of our items arrived after having almost been discarded while people were “cleaning house.” We’re happy that didn’t happen. If you’d like to add to our holdings, please contact the Reference Department staff.

This month our thanks go out to:

 Joseph M. Russell and the family of the late Noe Ducharme for the photographs and scans of the construction of Our Lady of Good Help Church, Mapleville (Mr. Russell scanned the images and also gave us the original pictures.)

 Ruth and Louis Lambert who allowed Library staff to photograph, copy, and scan documents and pictures from Calvary Episcopal Church, Pascoag

 The mystery donor who delivered several local history manuscripts

 Pat Mehrtens for a variety of local history documents including some old tax books to add to our existing collection

 Leslie Mundy for additional volumes of Rhode Island Roots

Thank you!
